If you are currently working for a company that understands that their employees need a healthy balance between work and life then your one of the lucky few. There are some people who are in a position where the company comes first before family and friends. This is not a way for anyone to live. If you are feeling that you need to work, instead of the other way around then you give your employer the upper hand and your work life balance is going to be in the negative.

Strategies to help achieve a better work life balance

  1. You must have your personal life and professional life to work together. If you put together a plan for you to achieve the balance between work and life then your chances of success is greater than if you followed a play designed for someone else.
  2. You have to understand that if you fail to follow your plan then you must hold yourself accountable. If you feel that you’re still working to much then it maybe time for you to look at yourself and stop working as much. It is not the employer’s fault that you’re working more than others.
  3. Priorities change. You must take a look at your life to see what should be treated as the most important thing. Sometimes it might be employer; they may require some extra work in order to meet a deadline. This can put some stress on your family. By knowing this ahead of time you can reorder your priorities to allow for this change.
  4. Time management is very important. You need to be aware that every moment does count. If you are efficient with your time then you will be able to spend more time with your family. Well, it will seem like more time, because it is the quality of the time instead of the quantity.
  5. Be there and be involved. This is could be the most important strategy. Just showing up to a family event does not mean that your actually spending the family time that needs to be there for work life balance. So you have to be physically and mentally into all family time, work time, me time and especially couple time.

There are other items that you can practice to help you achieve a better work life balance. These might include only do work that you love, respect family responsibilities, date night with your spouse, and time with your family and friends. A good work life balance is a major requirement for happiness. After all one of the rights as an Americans is the pursuit of happiness. So it is technically your right to have the perfect work life balance. At the same time there are many people who believe that they are stuck working in order to live in comfort. You do not have to fall into this trap, all it takes is a little effort and you will be well on the road to happiness.
